DBasia.news – La Liga club Real Madrid hopes that the closeness between Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland can pave the way for Los Blancos to recruit Haaland in the upcoming transfer market.
Odegaard and Haaland are known to be good friends and have both become a mainstay in the Norwegian national team, especially since Haaland began strengthening the Norwegian senior national team in 2019 ago.
Moreover, in terms of age, the two players are only one year apart. The understanding on the pitch and the good relationship off the pitch between the two players is expected to pave the way for Los Blancos to recruit Haaland.
“The good relationship between the two is expected to help Madrid recruit Haaland in the summer of 2022. The friendship between Odegaard and Haaland is clear, not only on the pitch, but also off the pitch. Not only that, the understanding between the two when strengthening the national team is also expected to occur at club level, namely in Madrid,” wrote the AS report, Friday (13/11).
Signed by Madrid from Stromsgodset in 2015, Odegaard has indeed strengthened more clubs as a loan player in the last three years.
However, his slick performance with Real Sociedad last season made the 21-year-old attacking midfielder trusted by coach Zinedine Zidane to inhabit Los Blancos’ first team this season.
Meanwhile, Haaland’s impressive performance with RB Salzburg made Haaland one of the main hunts for big European teams. In January 2019, the 20-year-old striker finally chose to join Dortmund.
With Dortmund, Haaland’s appearance has matured. The former Molde striker has scored 27 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions, including with 11 goals in 11 games this season.
Madrid is also reported to have included Haaland as a long-term target. Madrid are said to be trying to recruit Haaland in the transfer market at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season. Los Blancos considered, at that time, Haaland was much more mature and ready to perform at the highest level.
Even so, Madrid will face a tough challenge from Manchester United. The Red Devils have indeed become one of the clubs that are eager to bring in Haaland. Moreover, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the former coach of Haaland while still strengthening Molde.
