Mason Mount Is Happy With His Journey This Season

However, the punishment turned out to be a blessing for the young players in the squad, one of the names that is now almost always Frank Lampard’s first choice in the starting XI is Mason Mount.

Showing a brilliant performance with Derby County and successfully delivering the Rams to the playoffs did not make Lampard think twice about getting him into the main squad, even Mount has scored two goals in Premier League competition.

After holding the status as a core player of the Blues, Mount could not cover his happiness. Even the 20-year-old player stated that his dream since childhood has become a reality.

“Before the 2019/20 season officially started, I and the players from the academy felt very happy because I thought this season there would be many opportunities to play in the main squad. Right now we have to keep working hard and stay humble,” Mount said reported by Goal.

“Yes, of course, I enjoy every minute of being in the main squad and continue to work hard. Even to be honest I still don’t believe and have to pinch myself because this (being the main player) is something that has been a dream for a long time. I also work hard to be able to make it happen,” added the player who was loaned out to Vitesse.

Mason Mount’s hard work not only made him a top choice at Chelsea, but England national team manager Gareth Southgate also called him to take part in the Euro 2020 qualification against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

Closing the conversation, the Portsmouth-born player was happy because he played under the direction of his idol, Frank Lampard.

“I think being able to become a core player will be far more meaningful when you have been in a club for years and continue to work hard every season to be promoted to the first team. That is my dream,” Mount added. “Every coach always gives help. This can all be realized because of their help. Being a Chelsea core player is a very special thing,” he concluded.
