Mauricio Pocchetino is predicted to only train PSG for a short while

DBasia.news – With the financial strength of the Middle East consortium at PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) and the quality of a star-studded squad, any coach who manages the club would be under high pressure.

The current coach Mauricio Pochettino is no exception. The 49-year-old coached PSG in 2021 replacing Thomas Tuchel. Pochettino, who previously played as a defender, also played for PSG (2001-2003).

Like other coaches who coached PSG, Pochettino was given a target not only to sweep away the domestic title but also to realize the ambition of winning the Champions League. Especially with the presence of Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi, and Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer.

That strengthens a team that already has Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti. No doubt in every match the spotlight will point to Pochettino and the results of the match, especially in the trophy target will be an assessment for him.

Judging by this fact, former Italian national team striker, Antonio Cassano, predicts Pochettino’s career will only last a short time at PSG. The reason is simple: Pochettino has never won a trophy or been successful as a coach, and does not know how to handle a star-studded team.

“Pochettino will have a short life at PSG. I have heard bad things about him. He is a great man, but as a coach he doesn’t spend much time on tactics and the team has asked him for it,” Cassano told Marca.

“He asked the players for advice on how to play. I couldn’t believe it. He never coached a winning team and now he is struggling to manage great (players).

“From what I understand, if he continues like this he will have very little time there. Beware of Zizou (Zinedine Zidane).”

In his coaching career which began in 2008 Pochettino coached Espanyol, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur. During that time Pochettino was known as a talented coach who could make the most of the young talents in the squad, but his best achievement was reaching the Champions League final with Tottenham in 2019.
