DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, feels that Son Heung-min should have only received a yellow card when injuring Andre Gomes. Pochettino considers Son Heung-min’s red card to be obtained because there was an error with VAR.
Tottenham visited Everton’s headquarters at Goodison Park, Sunday (3/11). The match was a continuation of the Premier League 2019-2020.
The duel between Tottenham and Everton ended in a draw. Both teams struck a goal, with Dele Alli’s goal being able to be replied by Cenk Tosun.
Even so, it was not the results of the match that came under the spotlight after the match. But the injury that hit Andre Gomes and Son Heung-min red card.
Son Heung-min tackled Andre Gomes. At first, referee Martin Atkinson only gave out a yellow card. The changes in the referee’s decision has made Mauricio Pochettino furious.
“Obviously, Son Heung-min has no intention of creating such a problem (Andre Gomes injury) and what happened afterwards. I was surprised to see a red card,” Mauricio Pochettino said.
“In such a situation, we need help. The reason is the referee decided to give Son Heung-min a yellow card, but the VAR changed the decision.”
“VAR should have seen whether it was a bad tackle from Son Heung-min. Not judging from what happened afterwards,” added Mauricio Pochettino.
Premier League itself has issued a defense for referee, Martin Atkinson. They considered Son Heung-min could endanger the safety of other players.
