DBasia.news –  Chelsea’s young wing striker, Callum Hudson-Odoi, rarely plays this season with only three appearances as a starter in the Europa League and has never been a starter in the Premier League. Maurizio Sarri gave reasons for the lack of appearance of Hudson-Odoi.

Fans hope the 18-year-old wing striker is given more opportunities to play. Moreover, Hudson-Odoi is a priority number one target for Bayern Munich, who are looking for a replacement for Arjen Robben.

Nevertheless, Sarri stressed that Hudson-Odoi needed to be given time, without much pressure from the public and the media, to develop his potential. Sarri blamed the British media for being too excessive about the talented local youth.

“Callum is always in my mind in every song. I don’t know whether he will play or not tomorrow (against Dynamo Kyiv). I think you also have to reduce pressure on young English players because they need time to develop,” Sarri said, reported by London Football.

“I have never seen a player at the age of 18 at the top (of the game), so Callum, like other young English players, must develop at this moment. That is very important for him at the moment.”

“Then, he will be at the top when he is 22 or 23 without pressure at the moment. I think you (the media) put too much pressure on young English players,” Sarri said.

Chelsea will host Dynamo Kyiv in the Europa League last 16 first leg on Friday (8/3) at 3:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time at Stamford Bridge.
