Mesut Ozil will not be included by Arteta while playing the Europa League

DBasia.news – Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Oezil reportedly will not be included in the Gunners squad which will appear in the Europa League this season. The plan, Arsenal will announce the squad on the Europa League stage, Thursday (8/10) local time.

As reported by Sky Sports, Ozil’s name will not be on the list of players who will defend the Gunners in the Europa League this season. That way, the 31-year-old player only has the opportunity to strengthen Arsenal in the domestic competition of English football.

This dismissal is also a new chapter to further stretch the former Real Madrid attacking midfielder’s relationship with the Gunners.

 “Oezil is the player with the highest salary in Arsenal history, but the fact that he is increasingly excluded from the Arsenal squad is still a mystery,” wrote a Sky Sports report on Thursday.

When Mikel Arteta first officially served as Arsenal coach to replace Unai Emery, Oezil was still one of the mainstay players of the Spanish figure. However, after the termination of competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the former Werder Bremen attacking midfielder was never played by Arteta.

Oezil only warmed the bench. In fact, Oezil has not appeared for Arsenal since early April. This condition has strengthened the signal of Oezil’s departure in the summer transfer market this year. Moreover, Ozil’s contract with Arsenal has only one year remaining. Even so, throughout the transfer window earlier this season, Oezil proved to remain in the team from North London.

Previously, Arteta had said that it would be difficult for Oezil to be able to compete again in the struggle for a position in the Gunners’ first team. The former Manchester City assistant coach emphasized that he was only trying to reduce players who were deemed able to give their best performance when appearing on the field.
