Mikel Arteta Believes Aubameyang Will Stay at Arsenal
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his belief that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new contract with The Gunners.
Currently, Aubameyang and Arsenal have yet to find a bright spot regarding the future of the Gabon national team striker.
“I remain positive, we have had some very good discussions with Aubameyang and his agents,” Arteta said as quoted by ESPN, Friday (28/8).
As is well known, Aubameyang has only one contract remaining with The Gunners, and there has not been any agreement. In fact, Arsenal themselves still really need the Gabonese striker who have scored 70 goals in 109 appearances.
Meanwhile, club management has proposed a salary increase for Aubameyang from 180 thousand pounds to 250 thousand pounds per week. As a result, the former Borussia Dortmund striker reportedly agreed to extend his contract with London Cannon.
“Of course this is good news for him. I think he should be happy enough to be able to stay longer at the club, and people will be happy to hear it.”
Meanwhile, Arteta also confirmed that a deal to sign Brazil center-back Gabriel Magalhaes, from LOSC Lille is still in progress as the club continues to work on building a solid defense ahead of the new season.
“We are trying to finalize the deal. Everything is fine if both parties agree. We are quite positive.”
Arsenal themselves will prepare for the Community Shield match against Liverpool at Wembley Stadium, Saturday (29/8) tomorrow.
