Mikel Arteta is advised to Change Arsenal’s Formation

DBasia.news – Arsenal legend, Tony Adams has urged Mikel Arteta to immediately change formations after being defeated by Manchester City.

Even though they lost to Manchester City 1-0, Arsenal’s defense was quite solid. In fact, The Citizens are known to have the best attackers in the Premier League.

One of the reasons behind their tight appearance was the choice of a formation using four defenders. This tactic is different from what has been Arteta’s mainstay, which is playing with three defenders.

According to Tony Adams, Mikel Arteta should have patented the tactics of four defenders. With this formation, Arsenal are believed to have a better chance of winning the Premier League.

“I think it’s time for Arsenal to use the four defender formation. I’ve said that since the start of the season,” said Adams to the Premier League Productions.

“The current formation helps win the championship, but not the league title. That needs to be done if he really wants to build a team for the future.”

According to Adams, Arsenal do not have a sufficient squad to play with a three defender formation. Moreover, Hector Bellerin’s appearance was still not optimal.

“I think Arteta has a problem with Hector Bellerin. I feel his defense against Man City was not good at all. I want Arteta to try a four defender formation,” said Adams.

“Now, Arsenal has Gabriel Magalhaes. Find a duet for him. Arsenal were unlucky at the start of the season because of Rob Holding’s declining appearance.”

Next, Arsenal will face Rapid Wien on matchday 1 of Group B of the 2020-2021 Europa League, at the Allianz Stadium, Thursday (22/10). Apart from Rapid Wien, the Gunners will also go head-to-head with Dundalk and Molde in Group B.
