Mo Salah wins 2021-2022 PFA player of the year award

DBasia.news – Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has been named the PFA’s Player of the Year for the 2021-2022 season. This is the second time Salah has won the award.

The Egypt international player beat other famous names such as Sadio Mane, Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne. The last time Salah won the same award was after his first season at Anfield in 2017-2018.

These results add to Salah’s golden ink in terms of individual awards this season. Previously, he was the Premier League’s top scorer, FWA’s player of the year, and Liverpool’s player of the season.

“It is a great honor to win a trophy individually or collectively. I am thrilled and proud of it,” said Salah as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

“It was really good to win especially because it was voted for by the players. It shows if you work really hard you will get what you strive for.”

Salah’s appearance this season has continued to be in the spotlight. He recorded 23 goals and 14 assists in the Premier League. Meanwhile, in the Champions League, eight goals and two assists were created.

“When you get older you feel more stable and know what you want from football. So I just try to be really calm and help the team,” he said.

However, controversy reoccurs if you look at the composition of the best starting lineup this season according to the PFA version. Tottenham Hotspur striker, Son Heung-min, is not included in the lineup. In fact, Son became the Premier League’s top scorer this season with Salah.

The protests were getting louder. It was alleged that the election was fraught with discrimination as Son was from Asia.
