Monreal Isn’t Ready to Defend Arsenal

DBasia.news – Arsenal manager Unai Emery said that Nacho Monreal hasn’t reached the proper condition. Emery doubts Monreal can perform in the opening match of 2018-2019 Premier League.

Arsenal will have a rather heavy match during the first match of 2018-2019 Premier League. The Gunners have to serve the defending champion, Manchester City.

However, Arsenal probably will play without their experienced left defender in that match. Both of the left defenders of The Gunners are injured.

Sead Kolasinac who often placed as the main player of Arsenal had a big injury during the preseason. Kolasinac will absent for at least 2 months.

The situation worsened by Nacho Monreal’s injury. As a result, Arsenal will play against Manchester City without the left defenders.

Unai Emery admits that Nacho Monreal has the problem with the knee. But, Monreal will train together with Arsenal next week.

“He arrived with one, not big injury. His knee has a little problem. He is training every day, but not with the squad,” Unai Emery said.

“He is doing the work alone with the physio and running. We think maybe he can train with the squad on Tuesday, he can start with the team.”

“I think it is difficult (for him) to arrive for the match against Manchester City. For that we are trying Ainsley, he played in that position. My confidence in all players is great,” the new Arsenal manager continued.

Arsenal are preparing young players Ainsley Maitland-Niles to fill the position of Sead Kolasinac and Nachi Monreal. Maitland-Niles are guarding the left defender position of The Gunners for a while.
