Mourinho’s success is a lesson for Mikel Arteta

DBasia.news – Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta said he enjoyed Tottenham Hotspur’s documentary series All or Nothing released by Amazon Prime last August.

Like previous series, such as Leeds United and Manchester City, this documentary showed Spurs’ activity behind the scenes. The series documents Tottenham’s journey throughout the 2019-2020 season, including the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino and the entry of Jose Mourinho.

“It’s very interesting. It’s great to see inside another football club, another idea, another coach and another organization,” said Arteta.

More specifically, Arteta uses documentaries as learning material, especially seeing how Jose Mourinho acts.

“I like to see that. There are some important moments in the documentary when you can pick a few things that are relevant to the reasons behind Mourinho’s success.”

Arteta has known Mourinho for some time. Arteta first met Mourinho while playing in the Barcelona B team. At that time, Mourinho was assistant coach to Louis van Gaal.

“Mourinho has something very special, even whatever he wants to get into the football club, he managed to do so and he believes in the way players ultimately do what he wants,” explained Arteta.

“All these managers go through difficult times. I have been on the coaching staff with challenging moments. The important point is how you react in difficult moments with how the club supporters react in challenging moments,” Arteta reviewed the lessons he learned from Mourinho.
