Napoli doesn’t renew Koulibaly’s contract
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Kalidou Koulibaly reportedly failed to reach an agreement to extend his contract with Napoli, and of course it was an opportunity for the defender to find a new team that needed his services.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli and Koulibaly have not agreed to a new contract due to the club’s massive pay cut for the Senegal international player.
Napoli are working to reduce their spending on player salaries, and that appears to have caused chaos as some important players feel unappreciated.
Lorenzo Insigne has agreed to join MLS club Toronto FC on a free, while Dries Mertens is also preparing to leave Napoli.
Koulibaly has been linked with leaving Napoli over the past few seasons, with the likes of Manchester United, Barcelona, Juventus, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain all interested in the defender’s services.
However, as he turns 31 at the end of this month, his current value has dropped drastically compared to a few years ago, with Koulibaly being valued at around €100 million, but now he is only valued at €40 million.
Koulibaly has not decided on his future, but he has informed his agent that he does not want to move to another Serie A club out of respect for Napoli.
Obviously, the news can provide good news for clubs outside Italy who want to sign Koulibaly.
