Nigel Winterburn Hopes Dani Ceballos Can Motivate Mesut Ozil at Arsenal

Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn hopes Ozil can be triggered by the arrival of Ceballos who incidentally plays as an attacking midfielder. Competition in that position is also increasingly hot because Arsenal also have Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

It’s no secret that Ozil’s performance has dropped dramatically in the last few seasons. Because of the declining performance of the 30-year-old player, Ozil until rumored to leave.

“I like watching Ozil play at his best level, but last season he did not influence (the game) team and I do not know what really happened,” Winterburn said, quoted by Mirror.

“This season we will all find it (Ozil’s problem) very quickly because Ceballos has come, players of the same type of play.”

“He (Ozil) is a very good player when playing, but when in the defense phase, his enthusiasm is questioned,” he added.

“That’s why maybe we need him to receive more balls in the offensive phase, but we are not Manchester City or Liverpool who can often dominate the ball,” said Winterburn.
