Olivier Giroud Frustated He Rarely Played This Season

Unfortunately, this does not seem to apply to one of their attackers, Olivier Giroud, even after Alvaro Morata underwent a loan period with Atletico Madrid, Sarri instead chose to borrow Gonzalo Higuain from Juventus.

This situation certainly made Giroud upset and frustrated, especially the former Arsenal player who also appeared as a starter in 17 matches and only became the first choice when the Blues competed in the Europa League.

“Obviously, I feel happy at Chelsea, but I also want to enjoy football. Right now I’m really frustrated when I’m not on the pitch, but I also don’t want to show it. When you become a competitor, you must keep hiding the frustration.  and make it a positive energy in the field, “Giroud said as reported by the Evening Standard.

“To be honest, I really don’t like just being a coating player. That’s what made me have time to say that in the 2019/20 season I have to have a more important role in the team,” he added.

Although not being Sarri’s main choice, Giroud’s performance this season can be said to be not too disappointing, even he also became the Europa League’s top scorer with eight goals.

Closing the conversation, Giroud was still unable to ascertain whether he would still defend Chelsea in the upcoming 2019/20 season.

“Will I remain at Chelsea next season? I do not know and must first meet Marina Granovskaia (club director). We must discuss this before the 2018/19 season ends,” he concluded.
