Ollie Watkins Not Satisfied with Just Making Three Goals against Liverpool

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins feels he should have scored more than three goals in the 7-2 win over Liverpool at Villa Park on Monday (5/10).

Aston Villa broke a club record transfer fee of £28 million to sign the England striker from Championship side Brentford in September, and he proved the price was right after scoring a hat-trick against the reigning Premier League champions.

Ollie Watkins scored all three of those goals in the first half and had a number of chances to add to his goal in the second half, but no additional goals came from him.

The 24-year-old striker is the 10th player to score a hat-trick against Liverpool in the Premier League, the first since Dimitar Berbartov in 2010, but he says he could have scored more goals at Villa Park.

“Before the match, I didn’t expect I would score three goals. But after the first, I got a little bit of confidence and grew in the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“I got a chance and I should have got more goals at the end of the game. I don’t know if I was offside for one chance, but I think when I go head-to-head with the goalkeeper, I have to score that goal. You can always improve and I support myself to score that goal.

“A perfect hat-trick, said my team-mates in the first half, so I’ll take it.”

Aston Villa is now perched in second place in the Premier League standings. Together with Everton, they are the two teams that have not lost in the Premier League in the 2020-21 season. §?
