Ousmane Dembele Doesn’t Sell in the Winter Transfer Market

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Barcelona’s intention to release Ousmane Dembele in the winter transfer market failed. The French winger did not sell well.

Barcelona initially wanted to extend Dembele’s contract, which expires at the end of the season. He is included in the long-term project of the coach, Xavi Hernandez.

But the convoluted negotiations made Barcelona officials frustrated. Dembele is reluctant to help the club cut his salary in order to register new players.

A firm decision was taken by Barcelona by including Dembele on the selling list. Since then, the player has been linked with a number of clubs.

Dembele was reportedly very close to moving to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, Les Parisiens eventually withdrew regularly because of objections to the tag set by Barcelona.

Dembele has also been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. However, no agreement was reached until the transfer window closed.

According to Sky Sports reports, Chelsea had shown their seriousness to bring Dembele at the last moment. But the Blues did not want to spend a large transfer fee.

Chelsea are even now said to be ready to give Dembele a pre-contract agreement. Thomas Tuchel’s team want to sign him for free next summer.

On the other hand, Barcelona are at a disadvantage at the moment. They are certain to lose players who were bought for 105 million euros for free if there is no contract extension.

While freezing Dembele from the first team until the end of the season is also not a wise move. His energy is still needed to help Barcelona secure Champions League tickets.
