DBasia.news – 29-year-old defender, Pablo Mari was one of the victims of a stabbing while out shopping at Milan’s Milanofiori shopping center Assago. There were a total of six stabbing victims in this case.
The incident started when a 46-year-old man took a knife from a shelf, then randomly stabbed people around him. Luckily for Pablo Mari, he was conscious and received treatment at the Niguarda Hospital.
Monza CEO, Adriano Galliani, confirmed the news and even Mari jokingly confirmed his readiness to return to play for Monza soon.
“Pablo Mari is not in danger because his injury is not life threatening. We hope to see him back soon,” stated Adriano Galliani.
“Pablo Mari has a pretty deep wound on his back, but luckily it didn’t reach any vital organs like his lungs or anything.”
“He was probably saved because of his height,” he added. “Pablo is a wonderful man. He had the power to joke, told me he would be on the pitch on Monday.”
“I brought him greetings from President (Silvio) Berlusconi and everyone. His team-mates wanted to come here but obviously it was not possible.”
For the first time since the incident, Pablo Mari opened up. The Brazilian defender, who is on loan from Arsenal, told the horrific story when he saw someone die in front of his eyes.
“Today I was lucky, because I saw someone die in front of me,” Mari said as quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport.
Massimo Tarantino, a former Napoli and Inter Milan player, was one of the figures who was instrumental in stopping the perpetrators. “I’m not a hero. I didn’t do anything special,” said the 51-year-old.
