Papu Gomez Will Leave Atalanta Next January
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The relationship between Atalanta and the captain, Papu Gomez, seems to have improved. The two parties are likely to split in January.
Papu Gomez was indeed involved in a conflict with Atalanta’s coach, Gian Piero Gasperini. The relationship between the two seems increasingly heated.
Papu Gomez’s name disappeared from the Atalanta squad when entertaining AS Roma in the 2020-2021 Serie A continued, Monday (21/12). Even though the 32-year-old midfielder was still playing when La Dea drew with Juventus in the middle of last week.
Reporting from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta has made a decision regarding Papu Gomez’s future. They will sell the player in the winter transfer market in January.
The decision was made at the player’s request. The club and Papu Gomez’s agent will soon hold a meeting to discuss this plan.
Atalanta reportedly will sell Papu Gomez for 10 million euros. This value is certainly relatively small when compared to the performance shown by the player in the last few seasons.
Moreover, Papu Gomez is still under contract with Atalanta until the summer of 2023. But the club from Bergamo does not seem to want to hold back his departure and is starting to turn a new page.
AC Milan and Inter Milan are reportedly at the forefront of Papu Gomez’s hunt. The two teams are now in tight competition to end Juventus’s domination in Serie A.
The joining of Papu Gomez will certainly help them realize their ambitions. However, it is not impossible that the Argentinian player will move outside Italy because Paris Saint-Germain is monitoring his progress.
