Paul Merson Criticized Unai Emery
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Paul Merson criticized Unai Emery’s performance at Arsenal. He highlighted the mistakes made by Emery when applying tactics.
As is known, Arsenal started the 2019-2020 English League season with satisfying results. They were able to engulf the first two matches against Newcastle United and Burnley with a win.
However, minor results began to be obtained when Arsenal was defeated 1-3 from Liverpool on the third matchday of the Premier League. After that, Arsenal had to go through two games without winning in the face of Tottenham Hotspur and Watford.
Even the match counter Watford, Arsenal was already two goals ahead. But in the second half, Watford was able to get up and finish the game against Arsenal with a final score of 2-2. The result forced Arsenal to now be rooted in the seventh position of the 2019-2020 Premier League standings with eight points.
Merson, who followed the development of Arsenal under Emery’s care, also commented on three minor results obtained by his former club. Merson said that Emery was the person most responsible for the negative achievements of Arsenal because he often misused tactics.
“I have to blame the coach (Emery). People say there are many experienced players on the field, but they have a coach and the players are paid to listen to him,” said Merson, as quoted from Sky Sports.
“You can’t listen to the coach’s instructions then don’t apply them in the match. It will be a rebellion, so the players listen to Emery and Emery’s instructions aren’t good enough,” the 51-year-old continued.
“The substitution is not right. They need to have the ball in the game but they continue to lose it easily. The only player who hasn’t lost the ball during the match is Mesut Ozil. You know that Arsenal needs to score goals but Emery plays young players when his team is in a depressed condition in the match,” he concluded.
