Pep Guardiola Needs a Striker Who Can Score 50 Goals in One Season
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City must look for a new center-forward in the transfer market next summer. Pep Guardiola as manager has outlined the type of player he wants.
Manchester City will be left by Sergio Aguero at the end of this season. The two parties have agreed to separate as the contractual ties expire.
The loss of Aguero is a big loss for Manchester City. The 32-year-old player has held the status as their main source of goals for a long time.
No wonder Guardiola is very careful in finding a replacement for Aguero. Goal ratio is the main requirement that must be met by the candidates.
“I want to have a striker who scores 50 goals in a season, to be honest. But at the same time, I don’t like to put all the pressure on just one player,” said Guardiola.
“At Barcelona, Lionel Messi scores 50 goals every season. Thierry Henry scored a lot of goals in the first season and Samuel Eto’o scored a lot of goals and confirmed the reputation of a striker.”
Haaland and Kane codes
From the conditions set by Guardiola, the remaining candidates have narrowed to two names, namely Erling Haaland and Harry Kane. Both players are attackers who are hungry for goals.
Haaland has shown impressive goal productivity since moving to Borussia Dortmund, early last year. While Kane is now in second place on Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top scorer list with a collection of 220 goals.
Another name that Manchester City and Guardiola can target is Kylian Mbappe. However, the French national has more often played the role of a winger.
