Pep Guardiola reveals Manchester City problems against Southampton

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola explains what happened to his squad. According to the architect, his players had problems when they were held to a goalless draw by Southampton at the Etihad Stadium, Saturday (18/9).

Failing to pick up all three points and not being able to score at home was a disappointing result for City. As in the previous three home games in the Premier League, Guardiola’s troops always recorded a 5-0 victory.

The results were even more disappointing considering that three days earlier City were able to score six goals when they defeated RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

Regarding the goalless draw with Southampton, Guardiola assessed that the problem in his team was not a physical one, but rather a mental one.

“I don’t think we have freshness in our heads,” Guardiola told City’s official website.

“I can’t say the problem is in the feet of the players, but in their heads. It’s a shame,” he added.

It is believed that Guardiola has been quite influential in the poor conversion rate of City’s opportunities.

“We created a lot more chances, but unfortunately couldn’t be more deadly in the final third,” said Guardiola.

With a draw against Southampton, City are currently in second place with 10 points. This position is not safe considering that there are six teams that will appear on Sunday (19/9) to overtake the defending champion.
