DBasia.news – Benjamin Mendy is unlucky. When his performance is great, he got injured. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola gives full support for his squad. He thinks Mendy is a talented player with talent in the future.
Benjamin Mendy spent most of his time in the 2017-2018 season in the treatment room. The French player got an injury in the ligament.
Just recovered for some time, Mendy got a bad luck. He got a knee injury and might absent for three months.
The situation raised the concern of Guardiola. The former Barcelona tactician asked Mendy to be strong in fighting the injury.
“I think he’s a good professional. When he’s there, on the pitch or in the locker room, he’s doing what he has to do,” Guardiola said cited by FourFourTwo.
“But we cannot deny that he had a big injury last season, he has another big injury right now and hopefully everyone can understand what you need to be,” the manager said.
“A strong guy is one who plays every three days. These kinds of guys are never injured. That has to be his main target,” Guardiola revealed.
Manchester City spent £51,75M to sign Medy from AS Monaco during the previous transfer market. Mendy is still in contract until June 2023.
“Continuity is the target. He’s young, incredible potential and it’s a pity, an incredible guy. In two seasons it’s a long time not playing for him,” Guardiola explained.
