Pirlo Reveals Why Ronaldo Was Paired with Dejan Kulusevski

DBasia.news – Juventus coach, Andrea Pirlo, revealed the main reason for playing Dejan Kulusevski as Cristiano Ronaldo’s duet friend. This is quite a question because Kulusevski is not a pure striker.

Juventus won 3-0 when they hosted Crotone in the 2020-2021 Serie A continued match, at the Allianz Stadium, Tuesday (23/2). Ronaldo scored two goals and one was created by Weston McKennie.

In this match, Pirlo put Kulusevski as a partner for Ronaldo on the front lines. The tactician said he was happy with the performance shown by the former Parma.

“We need to try to move better. Alvaro Morata has not returned to his best condition. He needs time to get back up,” said Pirlo as reported by the Italian Football.

Kulusevski is expected to supply Ronaldo with the ball a lot. In addition, the Swedish forward was asked not to play as usual while still on the wing.

“If Ronaldo plays, attacks have to be developed in a different way. Kulusevski is not a striker and we asked him to make a different move.”

Unlike Parma

So far, Ronaldo has been the center of Juventus’ game. Not surprisingly, Kulusevski is required to adapt after playing more relying on speed while still defending Parma.

“The game must be wider to find Ronaldo in the penalty box. Playing for Juventus and Parma are two different things,” explained Pirlo.

“Parma probably relies more on the counter-attack. Kulusevski is adapting to an unusual role. He is doing well. He moves a lot when not on the ball. He can definitely do more.”

With that victory, Juventus are entrenched in third place in the standings. Juve are eight points behind Inter Milan who are at the top of the standings. The distance can be cut because La Vecchia Signora has one game less.
