Pochettino and Ten Hag are not Manchester United’s main targets

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are rumored to be at the forefront to become Manchester United’s coach. However, the Red Devils officials actually crave another figure.

Manchester United do not have a permanent manager after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November. Now Ralf Rangnick is serving as interim manager until the end of the 2021-2022 season.

Manchester United officials have the ambition to bind the manager permanently before Rangnick’s tenure ends. This is so that their preparation for next season will be better prepared.

Pochettino and Ten Hag then emerged as favorites for the job. The names of the two have been linked since Manchester United parted ways with Solskjaer.

However, they are not the first choice. According to ESPN’s report, the Manchester United boss wants Luis Enrique to fill the position.

Enrique became the first choice for a reason. The 51-year-old tactician is considered to be one of the few people who are suitable to handle Manchester United.

Success with Barcelona in the past is one reason. Enrique is also slowly able to restore the big name of the Spanish national team, which had gone through difficult times.

Even so, Manchester United’s ambition to sign Enrique would most likely be challenging. He is still under contract with the Spanish national team.

Enrique is now focusing on preparing to lead Spain in the 2022 World Cup. This fact will make him reject Manchester United’s offer.

Manchester United’s best opportunity to use Enrique’s services will come after the 2022 World Cup, later this year. But they certainly prefer to appoint another available manager.
