Pochettino has a comeback history in the semifinals of the Champions League

DBasia.news – Paris Saint-Germain has a tough task to catch up with the deficit defeat to Manchester City. Mauricio Pochettino was in this position and made a comeback.

PSG threw away the opportunity while playing at home in the first leg of the 2020/2021 Champions League semi-final against City. Had a 1-0 lead in the first half and appeared dominant, PSG even lost 1-2.

With these conditions, PSG clearly did not benefit from it as the second leg was held at the Etihad Stadium, Wednesday (5/5/2021) am, WIB. PSG must be able to win at least two goals difference or at least by a score of 3-2.

Seeing City’s performance with Pep Guardiola which was solid in domestic competition, PSG is clearly not favored. Pochettino also challenged his players to be able to break the existing predictions.

“Motivation in a match like this, the semi-finals of the Champions League, if you need to motivate the players, then we will,” said Pochettino, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“This will be a fierce duel, but the most important thing is we have to be ready. The players are happy with matches like this. Nobody wants to be eliminated. They all want to be involved,” he continued.

Regarding reversing positions, Pochettino had felt it in the 2018/2019 season when he brought Tottenham Hotspur to the final. After eliminating City in the quarter-finals, Spurs had a dramatic semi-final against Ajax Amsterdam.

After losing 0-1 at home, Spurs were behind 0-3 on aggregate as Ajax were 2-0 ahead. However, Spurs finally qualified for the final after Lucas Moura’s two goals in the final five minutes made them win 3-2 and qualify for an away goal 3-3 on aggregate.

“Yes, it was two years ago. Nothing is the same, the approach must be different,” concluded Mauricio Pochettino.
