Pogba Got A Challenge from Former Assistant Sir Alex Ferguson

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Paul Pogba has been able to perform nicely in his last few matches with Manchester United. The French midfielder was also challenged to continue to appear consistent until the end of the season.

The person who gave the challenge was Rene Meulensteen. In question is a former assistant coach of Manchester United in the era of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Meulensteen certainly knows Pogba quite well because he has been monitoring him since the player was still strengthening the Manchester United youth team. He is of course also involved in making Pogba able to leave Old Trafford for free in 2012.

“I have been one of his critics over the last few months because I believe we can expect a lot more from Paul. This is a performance that we and the fans all want to see,” Meulensteen told Stadium Astro.

“He’s important for the team, he pushes the team, he wins duels and scores goals. That’s what you want to see (from Pogba).”

Pogba has indeed played an important role in bringing Manchester United to the top of the 2020-2021 Premier League standings. He scored the only goal his team won in the last match against Burnley.

But Meulensteen realized that one of Pogba’s flaws is consistency. The 27-year-old player sometimes performs below his quality standards.

“The key for me is we have to expect performances like that from him every week. He can do that and he needs to show in the coming games,” he added.

Manchester United do need Pogba’s best performance in order to end the Premier League title drought. This can start in the match against Liverpool on Sunday (17/1).
