PSG Bought Neymar Too Expensive

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Neymar has yet to appear and make a significant contribution to PSG (Paris Saint-Germain) who bought him three years ago.

In fact, it was not cheap for PSG to recruit Neymar three years ago with a price tag of 222 million euros which makes him the most expensive player in the world until now. But what happened was Neymar was more often injured and absent for a long time.

PSG expected much from the Santos academy product, but what has happened was Neymar has only made 80 appearances out of 155 PSG matches since 2017. That’s only 51 percent of PSG’s total matches and averaged 26 games per season.

The note was not equivalent to the official tag of 222 million euros and 37 million euros salary per season. Each appearance made PSG spend 1,400,000 euros, meaning PSG paid 111 million euros for 80 Neymar matches.

Most of the matches Neymar did not play occurred because of injury. In some big games like against Real Madrid and Manchester United Neymar was absent, before the 2018 World Cup he also spent 100 days with PSG because of injury – only played 30 matches out of a total of 56 matches in 2017-18.

In the following season Neymar again missed 88 days and played 28 times out of 55 matches. In June 2019 Neymar injured his ankle and missed the start of the 2019-20 season, then returned and was injured again in October.

So far Neymar has made 22 appearances out of a possible 44 matches this season with PSG before the league was stopped due to the corona virus. That certainly concerned PSG. They might think of selling him and investing in other players, especially with that huge income.
