MU can only one point away to the headquarters of Newcastle in the Premier League continued. Compete at St. James’ Park, Tuesday (12/28/2021), MU drew 1-1.

Raphael Varane blamed for Newcastle’s goal The French defender lost the ball before Allan Saint-Maximin scored to give the hosts the lead in the seventh minute.

Harry Maguire’s performance was also highlighted. The MU captain was considered too soft at the back of the Red Devils.

United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, refuses to blame Varane and Maguire. According to him, MU must improve performance collectively.

“I mean Raphael hasn’t played for the last five or six weeks and even before the game against Tottenham he was injured,” Rangnick told Sky Sports.

“So in total in the last three months, he hasn’t played a lot of games. Yes, he made a mistake before the first goal that went into our net. But apart from that, I think he’s okay.”

“I wouldn’t say he’s amazing, and neither is Harry, but they did just fine.”

“Our problem is, again, we allowed too many transitional moments, and it’s not just a centre-back problem, it’s a whole team problem starting up front. And you can also talk about the number 10’s role in a formation like that.”

“So I don’t think it makes sense to talk about individual player performances. We have to be better as a team,” said Rangnick.
