Ralf Rangnick: Paul Pogba is done at Manchester United

DBasia.news – The match against Liverpool which ended in a 4-0 defeat also has the potential to be Pogba’s final match with United as his contract expires in June.

In that match Pogba was withdrawn in the first half due to a calf injury and was replaced by Jesse Lingard. After undergoing further scans, the 2018 World Cup winner was absent for a long time.

As reported by United’s official website, the recovery time for the player is about a month, with five matches remaining in the Premier League, there is little (almost impossible) chance of Pogba playing again.

“Scans have since shown that the injury will keep the player out of action for about a month and, with five games remaining, it is likely that he will not be involved in that match,” read a statement on Manchester United’s official website.

The news was confirmed by United’s interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, who has confirmed that the season is over for the 29-year-old player.

“With Paul, it seems, after the scans we did yesterday or the day after yesterday, it’s very unlikely that he will play again until the end of the season,” Rangnick added of Pogba.

“Doctors told me it would take four weeks, at least, for him to recover and since the last game is at the end of May, I don’t think it’s very likely he will be able to play again.”

Given that his contract expires at the end of this season and Pogba is believed to no longer feel at home with United, this is the end of the journey for the former Juventus player’s second term with Man United.

“As the situation persists, Pogba will not renew his contract with Manchester United. It looks like he will not be here for next season,” added Rangnick.

Pogba has played 27 times for United this season across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing nine assists. Pogba has played in his second spell with United since 2016 after four years with Juventus. Pogba is reportedly valued by Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG.
