Rangnick defends Maguire’s poor performance
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Lately Harry Maguire has considered to be one of the figures who is responsible for Manchester United’s series of minor results. But he was defended by the interim manager, Ralf Rangnick.
Manchester United failed to win in the last three matches. The Red Devils did well in the first half and scored, but declined in the second half and conceded.
Manchester United would have achieved bad results if David De Gea was not in his best form. The appearance of the defense line, which was commanded by Maguire, was the culprit.
Maguire on several occasions did appear to make individual mistakes. His position as captain made him easier to blame.
Interestingly, Rangnick thinks Maguire’s performance is not as bad as many say. He also had no intention of removing the captain’s armband from his arm.
“I think Maguire did well after coming back from injury. He had a great performance against West Ham,” Rangnick told the club’s official website.
“He did have some bad moments against Southampton and when we conceded the goal against Burnley. But he is our captain and I see no reason to change that.”
Rangnick’s defense
Rangnick also feels partly responsible for Maguire’s poor performance. The former Leicester City player is= still adapting to his concoction defense system.
“The way we are playing now is new for Maguire because in the national team he is used to playing at a back three and here at a back four,” he added.
“But the system is still not proactive, it’s not a defense that always pushes when it comes to defending.”
The Manchester United squad still doesn’t seem to fully understand Rangnick’s tactics. This problem must be resolved immediately before the situation gets worse.
