Rangnick had wanted to bring Sancho to RB Leipzig

DBasia.news – 63-year-old Germany coach, Ralf Rangnick has arrived and is coaching Manchester United. Rangnick has heard stories from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick regarding the current state of the squad, one player he is quite familiar with.

Rangnick coached Man United as interim manager until the end of the 2021-2022 season, then to then fill the club’s consultant role for two years. Looking at the current squad, Rangnick sees a good combination of young and senior players.

One name caught his attention. He is a Man United signing in the summer of 2021, Jadon Sancho. Brought in from Borussia Dortmund for 85 million euros and is currently not performing optimally with United.

Sancho (21 years old) is a product of the Man City academy who migrated to Germany in 2017. At that moment when Rangnick coached RB Leipzig (2015-2016 and 2018-2019), he met Sancho and wanted to take him to Leipzig.

“I’m very excited. I mean, they (Man United) have so many talented young players, I know Jadon Sancho from the German Bundesliga,” Rangnick said as quited on Man United’s official website.

“In fact, I met him when he was 17, in London. At that time, we tried to convince him to come to Leipzig and he decided a few months later to come to (Borussia) Dortmund, which was not a wrong move from his point of view.”

“Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, there are so many talented young players in the squad and, on top of that, top experienced players. To work with players like that and help them get better, yes, I’m really looking forward to it.”

Man United fans are still waiting for the best and regular form from Sancho, as was the case when he strengthened for Borussia Dortmund with a record of 137 games, 57 assists and 50 goals during his four seasons there.
