Rangnick opens up about Martial’s fate at Manchester United

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick still gives Anthony Martial playing time. This raises the conundrum regarding the future of the French player.

Martial appeared as a substitute in the match which took place at Old Trafford, Saturday (22/1). He came on for Mason Greenwood with eight minutes of normal time remaining.

Martial’s appearance in this match is quite surprising. He is considered to have no future at Manchester United as he has the desire to leave.

Rangnick even accused Martial of refusing to play in Manchester United’s draw with Aston Villa last week. Although the accusation was directly denied.

Interestingly, Martial made a big impact when he entered the field. He was instrumental in providing a key pass to Edinson Cavani which was then continued by Marcus Rashford to score the winning goal.

After the match, Martial received a warm welcome from his teammates. An equally interesting sight was also presented when Rangnick hugged him while giving messages.

This certainly raises a question regarding Martial’s fate at Manchester United. Rangnick also gave an explanation.

“Since the last time we spoke a week and a half ago I told him it’s about being professional until the last day. It doesn’t matter how long he stays or when he leaves,” Rangnick told the club’s official website.

“It was a pleasure to have this conversation with him. The way he (Martial) trained and played when he came on today shows the professionalism I expect from everyone.”

From this statement, Rangnick opened up the opportunity to continue to maintain Martial. But the final decision remains in the hands of the player.

The lack of playing opportunities is indeed the main reason Martial wants to leave. He has so far been unable to compete with Cristiano Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood, and Rashford.

“Martial is a top player and one of the best strikers in the Premier League. But we have another player in his position and it was his desire to leave.”

“But as I told him, it always takes different parts to find a deal.”
