Rarely Gets the Opportunity to Play, Torreira Is So Sad That He Needs A Psychologist

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira told of his experience consulting with a psychologist due to the lack of playing time in his second season with the Gunners. He feels sad and in a bad mood when he doesn’t play.

Torreira signed from Sampdoria in 2018 and became a mainstay in the London Meriam midfield by playing 34 games in the Premier League. After two ups and downs with Arsenal, Torreira was loaned to Atletico Madrid earlier this season.

At Atletico, the fate of the 25-year-old is even more unclear. As a result he felt as if he was just playing in the shadows of Hector Herrera and Koke. Even Torreira was not offered to extend his tenure with the LaLiga champions.

“A year ago, I consulted a psychologist in Spain. Because in my second year at Arsenal, I played a little bit. I struggled to deal with it. Really because my life revolves around football,” Torreira said as quoted by Marca.

“When I’m not playing I have a really bad time. I’m in a bad mood and a lot of things make me sad,” added the Uruguay international midfielder.

Torreira felt another sadness because his mother died from Covid-19 and had thought about retiring from football.

“When my mother died, I didn’t want to play football anymore. I wanted to live at Fray Bentos in Uruguay with my family,” he said.

“I don’t really want to go back to Spain because I have to live there alone.”

“Fortunately one of the brothers came out to live with me. But I want to live here with dad,” he said.

The arrival of Albert Sambi Lokonga at Arsenal will make Torrera’s competitors in the midfield increase after the names of Mohammed Elneny and Thomas Partey.
