Ray Parlor: Arsenal Should Prioritize the League Cup
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal was asked to seriously pursue the League Cup title like Manchester City last season. It was said by Ray Parlor, an Arsenal legend.
Arsenal will start the adventure in the 2019-2020 English League Cup. The Gunners will host Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in the third round on Wednesday (9/25).
As is known, Arsenal often does not consider the English League Cup as a serious event. The competition is more often used by the Gunners to try young players.
Throughout history, Arsenal has only won the English League Cup twice. Both were won by the North London club in the 1986-1987 and 1992-1993 seasons.
Now Ray Parlor, who was part of the 1992-1993 Arsenal team, asked Unai Emery to be serious in the English League Cup. Parlor hopes Emery will play several senior players.
“In my opinion, Unai Emery must combine young and old players. There is no problem with that because Arsenal has several good young players,” said Ray Parlor.
“Call it a few of them Reiss Nelson, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Joe Willock and Emile Smit Rowe. They are great players who can perform for the Arsenal first team.”
“You have to see how important the trophy is for Manchester City. Winning the English League Cup is an achievement for Arsenal and Unai Emery,” he added. Since the 1992-1993 season, Arsenal has advanced three times to the English League Cup final. The third opportunity is in the 2006-2007 season, 2010-2011, and the latest was 2017-2018.
