Real Betis humiliate AS Roma
By db-admin
DBasia.news – AS Roma took the lead through a Paulo Dybala penalty, but Real Betis were able to turn things around to win 2-1 in the Europa League group C matchday three at the Stadio Olimpico with Nicolo Zaniolo being sent off for a foul in stoppage time.
The Giallorossi need a win to top the group, having lost to Ludogorets and beating HJK, while Betis came in with a perfect record. However, the Italian Serie A club actually lost.
Five minutes in, Zeki Celik had to be withdrawn due to a knee injury and replaced by Leonardo Spinazzola.
Rui Patricio parried Sergio Canales’ shot, then Nabil Fekir hit the near post from the edge of the box.
However, Fekir suffered a muscle injury, so Betis had to make an emergency substitution in the first half.
AS Roma broke the deadlock in the 34th minute with Paulo Dybala’s penalty after a VAR review confirmed Aitor Ruibal did a handball in the box in a corner.
Real Betis could have equalized in the 40th minute after Guido Rodriguez made the most of Luiz Henrique’s cross.
Real Betis finally sealed the win with Luiz Henrique’s header after a cross from Rodri in the 88th minute.
The game got even worse for AS Roma, as Zaniolo lost his temper and was sent off in injury time for a completely foolish shot, meaning he will be suspended for the next game.
With this result, AS Roma are in third place in Group C with just three points from three games, six points behind Real Betis, who have collected perfect points so far.
