Real Madrid Is Considered Lucky to Get David Alaba
By db-admin
DBasia.news – David Alaba managed to show his quality in Austrian uniform in the first match of Euro 2020. He was even named Man of the Match after his country won 3-1 over North Macedonia, Sunday (13/6).
The new Real Madrid signing played all of Austria’s warm-up games in midfield, but Austrian manager Franco Foda shifted him back to centre-back. Alaba responded by putting on an excellent performance.
“I am a tactically flexible player, I can play in various positions. I am happy with my performance on the pitch. I played as a center back and tried to play wide,” Alaba said after the game as quoted by Marca.
Alaba had excellent ball control with a 90 per cent pass success rate, finishing 95 out of 105. Despite starting the game at centre-back, Austria’s dominance over North Macedonia saw him play more forward.
Not only was his ball control impressive, Alaba also ran 10 kilometers on the field and won seven aerial duels.
As reported by Marca, Real Madrid are delighted to have secured Alaba’s signature and they have the same belief that Alaba will succeed as Los Blancos did when they signed Toni Kroos.
Alaba docked to Spain for free. Real Madrid completed competition from various elite European teams to secure the services of Alaba, although the offer from Real Madrid was not as high as some of the teams who wanted to woo the Austrian captain.
Alaba’s ability to fill multiple positions could be an asset to Carlo Ancelotti given Real Madrid are looking to replace central defenders Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane whose futures are unclear.
