Real Madrid is still struggling to lift the LaLiga trophy
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Real Madrid won 4-1 at Alaves headquarters on Sunday (24/1). The victory again increased the confidence of Zinedine Zidane’s team.
Madrid striker, Karim Benzema, who scored twice in that match, insisted his team were still in the race for the Spanish League title.
In the match against Alaves, Real Madrid was unaccompanied by Zinedine Zidane because they had to undergo isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. His role was replaced by his assistant, David Bettoni.
The victory puts El Real’s distance from Atletico Madrid who lead the standings to four points, with Diego Simeone’s team facing Valencia on Monday (25/1) WIB.
Despite falling behind before the second half of the season, Benzema still believes Madrid has a great opportunity to defend the title.
“This is a great match for us and it will increase confidence,” said Karim Benzema as quoted by Marca.
“We have to work as we have done, that’s what we have to do after a difficult week.”
“We are on the right track after a tough week and we have to look at ourselves because there are still many games to be played in the league,” he added.
Los Blancos have currently collected 40 points from 19 matches. Meanwhile, Atletico have two matches in their hands after Real Madrid’s match at Alaves headquarters.
As Benzema said, Real Madrid on paper does have a chance to collect important points. In February Los Blancos will play against Huesca, Getafe, Valencia, Real Valladolid and Real Sociedad, who incidentally have a quality below Madrid.
