DBasia.news – Week 19 of LaLiga 2021-2022 presented a surprise in the match between two clubs from the City of Madrid, Getafe and Real Madrid at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, Sunday (02/01) night WIB. Los Blancos unexpectedly lost 0-1.
Enes Unal scored the only goal in the match in the 9th minute. The team coached by Quique Sanchez Flores continued to be pressed by Madrid, only having 26% of possession, 6 kicks (3 on target), Madrid was unable to keep up.
Madrid, with 74% of possession, had 14 shots (4 on target) and Carlo Ancelotti’s side were unable to score. Madrid is still in first place in the standings with 46 points from 20 matches, 8 points adrift of Sevilla in second and has only played 18 times.
Madrid’s defeat made a bitter start for those who previously went on an unbeaten 15-game streak, winning 11 of their last 12 in all competitions. Getafe earned valuable points to move away from the relegation zone.
“The players were nervous. We lost the ball and also lost the duel after the goal. The team (in mode) is on holiday today. There is no focus and nothing special. We gave them (Getafe) three points,” stated Ancelotti after the game ended.
“What I can say more, is that the players are still in holiday mode. We are not playing well. We are still the leader of the table and will continue to fight,” he stressed.
Apart from Getafe stopping Madrid’s unbeaten record, here are other interesting notes from the match:
- Madrid are winless in the last four games as they have the most possession in all competitions this season: against Cadiz (82%), against Sheriff (76%), Osasuna (75%) and Getafe (74%).
- Madrid’s last three defeats in LaLiga (rare): against Levante (January 2021), against Espanyol (October 2021), and against Getafe (January 2022).
- Getafe’s goal scored by Enes Unal at the 8:23 minute is the second fastest of the 20 goals that Real Madrid have conceded in all competitions this season.
