Reasons for Klopp to choose Caoimhin Kelleher, not Adrian when against Ajax

DBasia.news – Liverpool has a new hope between under the goal, named Caoimhin Kelleher, the goalkeeper was chosen to play by Juergen Klopp in the match against Ajax on matchday 5 of the 2020/21 Champions League, Wednesday (2/12) am. He is the reason the Reds’ goal is a virgin.

Klopp made this decision after receiving unfortunate news from the Reds’ main goalkeeper, Alisson Becker regarding his hamstring injury. In the end Liverpool won 1-0 at Anfield through Curtis Jones’ single goal.

The 53-year-old manager chose Kelleher on a whim, the result proved that his choice managed to guard the goal well. “Top,” said Klopp when praising Kelleher as quoted by Goal.

“It’s a situation that I have to say, it’s easy to decide Caoimhin because he deserves it, but it’s a difficult decision for Adrian because he did really well for us: lots of clean sheets, incredible season last year, Super Cup final and some sort, “he added.

According to the German manager, he chose Kelleher over Adrian purely because of the tactical needs he had prepared.

“We need him to press Ajax, we need chips from him to go to the middle of the pitch and things like that. That’s great, but of course in the end it’s all about the save, clearing the ball, and he did it at least twice in an extraordinary way, “continued Klopp.

“I’m pretty sure he will sleep well or not at all, but he will enjoy both.” concluded the manager from Germany.
