Refuses to Underestimate Real Madrid, Bernardo Silva Warns His Colleague
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has warned his team-mates not to underestimate Real Madrid, despite City’s strong capital in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Bernardo alluded to the defeat of Barcelona in the Champions League last season. Barca initially winning 3-0 over Liverpool in the first leg of the semifinals, but in the second leg the situation turned into 0-4.
“The opportunities are still open. Especially if we are against a team like Madrid, nothing is certain. We have seen many matches in the years reversed. Like Barcelona last year beat Liverpool 3-0 and then lost 0-4,” Bernardo said as quoted by Standard.
In the first leg of the Champions League last 16 round, Manchester City won 2-1 over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. But the second leg match has not been played because the competition is still suspended due to the corona virus pandemic.
Until now there is still no clarity when the Champions League will be resumed. If resumed, Bernardo hopes his team is not big-headed.
“We have a good start and position to advance to the quarterfinals. Next is a tough match and we must be able to maintain concentration,” he said.
“However we cannot underestimate any team, especially Real Madrid who have won 13 times. Nobody has experience like Madrid players in this competition, so we must not think of winning,” he added.
