Regarding Gerrard becoming Liverpool coach, Klopp says it’s still far ahead
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp, answered the issue that said Steven Gerrard would replace his position as manager of the Reds. Klopp assesses, this is still far from reality.
Steven Gerrard returns to the Premier League. This time, after his success with Rangers, Gerrard chose to accept Aston Villa’s offer.
The move is widely interpreted as preparation for Gerrard to become Liverpool’s manager. Because, Jurgen Klopp’s contract will expire in 2024. That means, Gerrard wants to adapt first to the climate of coaching in the Premier League before finally returning to Liverpool’s arms.
However, Klopp is reluctant to comment much about the appointment of Gerrard as Villa coach and the chance to take charge of Liverpool in 2024. Klopp feels there is still a long way to go before 2024.
“I don’t have to think about whether Gerrard will stay after 2024. It’s okay with Liverpool. It’s far from over,” Klopp explained as reported by The Sun.
“Gerrard said some good and intelligent things. I watched his press conference,” said Klopp.
Previously, Steven Gerrard tried to reduce the issues linking him with Liverpool at a press conference as Aston Villa coach. Gerrard promised to only focus on Villa.
“It’s very unfair to take this step as a stepping stone. You’ll never hear that from me,” explained Gerrard.
“I am very honored and proud to be here. I am ready to work hard and give what it takes to succeed at this job.”
