Revealed, the Reason Why Messi and Busquets Weren’t the Starters Against Bilbao

DBasia.news – Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets stayed on the bench during the 1-1 match between Barcelona against Athletic Bilbao, Saturday (29/9). Both didn’t play since the beginning.

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde revealed his reason to bench the two important players. Valverde assumed the two players need a rest.

Without them, Barcelona got conceded first by the goal from Oscar De Marcos. Lionel Messi who performed as the substitute player saved Blaugrana.

The draw result made Barcelona failed in achieving the victory after the rotation. They got defeated when Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba performed from the bench.

However, Valverde assumed the rotation was reasonable for the team like Barcelona. Moreover, Blaugrana have been performing in more than one competition.

“When I make the decision, I think about what’s best for my team and for my club. I always do that before playing games, I can’t do it afterward or rewind,” Valverde said.

“It’s my absolute responsibility, we have four games in ten days and I thought that Leo and Busquets had to rest.”

“We have a very difficult match on Wednesday. I knew it was a risky decision, but if it had gone well, you wouldn’t be asking me about it,” Valverde continued.

Despite the draw result against Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona still lead the temporary standing of LaLiga. Blaugrana collected 14 points, similar to Real Madrid with the goal difference.
