DBasia.news – The CEO of Manchester United, Richard Arnold, did not deny that all elements of the club were disappointed with the team’s performance in the 2021/22 season. But Arnold admitted that he was confident that the Red Devils could rise even though it would take time to do so.
Manchester United showed a disappointing performance throughout the 2021/22 season. They failed to win a single trophy and failed to secure a ticket to the Champions League, MU also recorded the worst points record throughout their participation in the Premier League, namely 58 points. This record is worse than the previous record of 64 points in the 2013/14 season.
Richard Arnold did not deny that Man United had shown a poor performance last season. Similar to the fans, Arnold also claimed that the club management also felt the same disappointment.
But Arnold believes that MU will be able to rise and efforts to do so have been made. One of them by bringing in Erik ten Hag as a new manager. But Arnold reminded that to get back up, MU needed time.
“We can only say that we are not satisfied with our position in the league and the team’s performance on the pitch,” Arnold said as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“We understand well that the fans are very frustrated and want to see changes and improvements in performance. I can confirm that we [club management] feel the same way.”
“But on the other hand we also have to believe that we can make changes by taking decisions that can provide the impetus for long-term success. The appointment of Erik ten Hag is a real example of the efforts we are making and that is the most important thing. We are happy to have concluded the agreement early and we can’t wait to see Erik get started.”
“However, success will not be achieved overnight. But we are determined to be able to do so. Support from fans will be important and we have a big job to make relationships with fans even better,” he concluded.
