Rio Ferdinand defends Cristiano Ronaldo

DBasia.news – Manchester United has sanctioned Cristiano Ronaldo for his return to action in the match against Tottenham Hotspur. But CR7 is still defended by his former teammate and Red Devils legend, Rio Ferdinand.

As is known, Ronaldo chose to leave the field before the game ended when Manchester United beat Tottenham with a score of 2-0 in the 2022-2023 Premier League, Thursday (20/10). This was allegedly done as a form of disappointment to the manager, Erik ten Hag.

According to reports, Ten Hag asked Ronaldo to come on as a substitute before normal time ended. But he refused to comply and chose to head to the locker room and went home before the game was over.

This disgraceful action in the end continued. Ronaldo has been temporarily suspended from the first team and will not play against Chelsea this weekend.

This decision was reportedly decided directly by Ten Hag. Meanwhile, club officials only provided support to the manager.

Ferdinand admitted Ronaldo’s actionwas excessive, nbut he can also understand why it happened.

The lack of opportunities to play under Ten Hag must have made Ronaldo unhappy. According to Ferdinand, the match against Tottenham could be the peak of his agravation.

“I think Ronaldo is really angry (for not playing). That’s the only reason I see and I didn’t expect anything different from him,” Ferdinand said on his personal Youtube channel.

“That will be a story. United won 2-0 and the main story is about Ronaldo.”

Even though he is older, Ronaldo’s ambition to win various titles is still high. This makes it difficult for him to accept the fact that he is often being reserved.

Ferdinand also gave Ten Hag advice to release Ronaldo in the next winter transfer market. This must be done for the good of all parties.

“If he (Ten Hag) doesn’t plan on playing Ronaldo more often as a starter, I think he should let him go. It’s not fair to anyone neither the club, Ronaldo and Ten Hag,” he added.

“You sit here and think why didn’t Man Utd let Ronaldo go if it wasn’t in Ten Hag’s plans. The manager will know before the season starts whether he’s going to play and wants Ronaldo or not.”

“It’s going to be something that holds Ten Hag back from progressing until the day Ronaldo leaves the club, because of how big an icon and superstar he is.”
