DBasia.news – Rio Ferdinand praised Cristiano Ronaldo’s impact after Manchester United’s win over Villarreal in the Champions League. Ronaldo transmited his confidence to the team.

MU won dramatically at home to Villarreal on matchday 2 of the Champions League. Competing at Old Trafford, Thursday (30/9/2021) am, WIB, the Red Devils won 2-1 thanks to Ronaldo’s goal at the end of the second half injury time.

MU trailed first after Paco Alcacer broke into David de Gea’s goal in the 53rd minute. Alex Telles then brought MU to equalize through his goal in the 60th minute.

When the match seemed to end in a draw, Ronaldo scored to give Manchester United victory. The Portuguese player took advantage of Jesse Lingard’s prodding ball near Villarreal’s goal.

Rio Ferdinand revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo was sure he would score against Villarreal. Ronaldo’s belief is that according to Ferdinand, helped boost MU.

“He messaged me tonight, saying ‘I didn’t play well, but I know I’m going to score’. That’s the belief he has,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“United’s performance today wasn’t great, not at the level that Ole wanted. But when you need a goal, a moment to wake up the squad, the stadium, the fans, Cristiano Ronaldo comes in.”

“He wants to be a player who gets opportunities. His goal record is proof. He is there for big moments. He is a big part of that too,” continued Ferdinand.

“When you have a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, the players in the locker room come alive. There is a chance for success, belief, because they know when the opportunity comes, he will finish it.”

“It gives you the ability to relax. That is the biggest thing in our team. When you are under pressure and you can see time is running out, you don’t panic. We are very calm because we believe the opportunities will come,” stated Ferdinand.
