DBasia.news – AS Roma is still too strong for Benevento after the club from the Italian capital secured a 5-2 victory in the fourth week of Serie A, Monday (19/10) am.
In the match that was held at the Stadio Olimpico last night, Roma did fall behind first through midfielder, Gianluca Caprari’s goal in the fifth minute, after his shot from outside the penalty box tricked goalkeeper Antonio Mirante as the ball was deflected. Opta noted it was the fastest goal scored by Benevento in Serie A.
Roma were only able to respond in one minute after half an hour when Pedro Rodriguez’s strike lodged in goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipo’s goal, with the former Chelsea completing a short pass from Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Four minutes later Roma turned ahead. Taking advantage of Mirante’s quick counterattack received by Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the winger then provided a ball for striker Edin Dzeko to finish.
With that, Dzeko has now scored 13 goals in his last 11 Serie A appearances at the Stadio Olimpico against promoted clubs.
Mkhitaryan pushed Roma away with a ‘tap-in’ before halftime, but the referee ruled him out as Leonardo Spinazzola was caught offside in the process of the goal.
At the start of the second half, Roma were sanctioned to a penalty after Jordan Veretout violated Artur Ionita in the forbidden box. Gianluca Lapadula, who came on as the executioner, found his shot thwarted by Mirante, but he managed to finish a wild ball for the equalizer in the 55th minute.
Roma also won a penalty award from the referee in this match, with Veretout who previously sentenced his team to now be able to “take revenge” after his execution from a distance of 12 just in the 69th minute successfully outwitted Montipo.
The home team took their lead eight minutes later and again Dzeko listed his name on the scoreboard after receiving an assist from Mkhitaryan.
It didn’t stop there, substitute, Carles Perez sealed Roma’s win thanks to an individual effort he displayed one minute from the end.
Thanks to this result, Roma are temporarily ranked seventh with a collection of seven points from the first four matches.
Meanwhile, promotcluion club, Benevento is in tenth place with six points from the four matches running.
