Romelu Lukaku Is Ready to Spearhead Chelsea
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Romelu Lukaku is looking into his second spell at Chelsea with confidence. He believes he is already a better player than when he arrived in 2011.
A little doubt has indeed enveloped Lukaku’s comeback to Chelsea. The striker, who is now 28 years old, has not very good memories of his career in England, especially Chelsea.
In his first period of the 2011-2012 season, Lukaku failed to win a place in the Chelsea core squad. In fact, he is predicted to increase the strength of the front lines because he has a great body posture.
His ability is increasingly in doubt after Chelsea loaned him to West Bromwich Albion and Everton. The last club then bought him permanently.
Lukaku’s career shone in England when Manchester United signed him in the summer of 2017. The Red Devils were willing to spend £75 million because they believed in his quality.
But Lukaku failed to meet the high expectations placed on him. Inconsistent appearances made Manchester United sell him to Inter Milan two years later.
Surprisingly, Lukaku seemed to be reborn with Inter. He was able to appear sharp and presented the Scudetto for the Nerazzurri.
This is the background of Chelsea’s decision to repatriate Lukaku. The Blues manager, Thomas Tuchel assesses the attacker fits the scheme of his game.
Lukaku did not arbitrarily take the decision to accept Chelsea’s offer. He felt he had the capital to improve his reputation in England.
“I feel more complete and have tried to master all the aspects that a striker needs. I just want to keep improving the little details all the time and keep improving my strengths as well,” Lukaku told the club’s official website.
“Two years in Italy helped me master all aspects of the game for a striker and now I am ready.”
Lukaku is almost certain to spearhead Chelsea’s attack scheme. He has spoken directly with Tuchel regarding the team’s game scheme.
“My role will depend on what the game plan is and what the boss wants me to do. If he wants me to be the focal point or if he wants me to attack the space at the back, I can do that.”
“I like the system we play and I’m very flexible. I can play as two or alone and I’m used to the system because that’s what we played with the Belgian national team so I didn’t need much time to adapt.”
Lukaku has the opportunity to make his debut when Chelsea travel to Arsenal headquarters in the 2021-2022 Premier League. This match is the right stage to prove his quality.
