Romelu Lukaku Still Holds Grudge against AVB When at Chelsea
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku apparently still has a grudge against his former manager Andre Villas-Boas while he was playing for Chelsea. Lukaku felt not treated well by Villas-Boas.
Villas-Boas was appointed to handle Chelsea in the summer of 2011. At about the same time, 18-year-old Lukaku also docked at Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht.
Instead of filling the main squad, Villas-Boas sent Lukaku to the reserve team. The attacker’s name was also not included in the 2011-2012 Champions League squad list.
Pain Lukaku did not stop there. He also questioned the way Villas-Boas developed his abilities.
“Every now and then I have to play in the front left position, then in other matches I was placed in the front right. You didn’t develop like that,” Lukaku told Belgian media, Het Laatste Nieuws.
“I know Villas-Boas is also under pressure. But that shouldn’t be the reason for treating me like that.”
Less than a season, Villas-Boas was fired by Chelsea for swallowing a series of poor results. Roberto Di Matteo was appointed as his successor.
Lukaku has a different impression of the Italian coach. He was very touched by the attitude of Di Matteo who treats all players fairly.
One example occurred when Chelsea played the 2011-2012 Champions League final against Bayern Munich. Di Matteo dispatched all team members even though they were not registered in the top party.
“(Roberto) Di Matteo has a different approach, and he immediately involved me in everything. That should (the change of coach) be done much earlier,” he added.
“Really, I will never forgive the coach before (Villas-Boas).”
Lukaku finally failed to take the main place with Chelsea. He then moved clubs starting from Everton, Manchester United, until now with Inter Milan.
