DBasia.news – Chelsea chose to fly to the United States (US) and play a charity match in the midst of a crucial period during the Europa League final. It was unclear what was in the minds of management at the time.
Before leaving, Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri, expressed his displeasure with this agenda. Even so, Chelsea continued to fly to Boston to face New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium. In that match Chelsea won 3-0.
Two goals from Chelsea were scored by Ross Barkley and another from Olivier Giroud. However, in that match Sarri’s worries really happened. Sarri had to be inflamed because Ruben Loftus-Cheek was injured.
Loftus-Cheek had to be helped by the Chelsea medical team to get out of the field in the 68th minute. Loftus-Cheek was injured after his heel was stepped on by his opponent.
“We have to avoid injury incidents while in Boston later,” Sarri said before leaving.
“My team currently needs a break. This is not the best way to prepare for the final match,” Sarri continued.
With this incident, Chelsea will likely appear without Loftus-Cheek in the Europa League final against Arsenal.
