Sarri Reveals Drinkwater’s Future

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri admits he won’t have any problem if The Blues sell the midfielder Danny Drinkwater in the upcoming January transfer market.

“I don’t know. It depends on the club, it’s up to him,” Sarri said.

Sarri joined Chelsea last year. He replaced Antonio Conte.

The coach made a huge change in Chelsea. The former 3-4-3 scheme in the Conte era is replaced with 4-3-3. Sarri thinks it’s not suitable to Drinkwater’s characteristic.

Besides that, he also loses the competition with Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, and N’Golo Kante. Also, there are other midfielders like Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Consequently, the 28-year-old player faces difficulty to be in the main squad.

“I think for him the problem is only my football. He’s a very good midfielder but he is suitable for a midfield two because with a three he is not really a central midfielder or suitable for center right or center left,” Sarri said.

Drinkwater joined Chelsea from Leicester City last season. So far, he has played in 23 caps of all competitions and scored one goal.
